Dr. Friedrich Riess

Biography

Dr. Friedrich Riess is a Senior Clinical Data Manager at the Division of Infectious Diseases and Tropical Medicine, Medical Center of the University of Munich (LMU).

In the TB Sequel project he serves as the lead data manager overseeing the clinical data management activities. In this role he is working in close cooperation with his Munich colleague and study data manager Fidelina Zekoll and with the local data management groups of the consortium partner organisations.

Dr. Riess is holding a diploma (MS equivalent) and doctorate in Agronomy from the Technical University Munich. After having worked for nine years in agricultural research conducting field trials he is now working for more than 20 years in clinical data management in positions with increasing responsibilities at several CROs in Germany and USA on international clinical trials of various indications and phases. In 2004 Dr. Riess was one of the first Certified Clinical Data Manager CCDM® of the American Society for Clinical Data Management SCDM. His particular focus is on applying the open source Clinical Data Management System OpenClinica® in trials the Munich Tropeninstitut is conducting in resource limited countries.
