Kavi is currently a Senior TB Programme Manager within the Implementation Research Division at The Aurum Institute. He is a trained epidemiologist and microbiologist who holds a Master’s in Public Health from the University of Pretoria and is a graduate of the South African Field Epidemiology and Laboratory Training programme, a prestigious field epidemiology program funded and modelled on the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s Epidemic Intelligence Service (EIS).
He has worked across various sectors in health including private, public and government departments and has experience working with various donor funders such as PEPFAR/CDC, Sanofi and UK-MRC/SA-MRC. He has also worked as a microbiology consultant on a Phase III TB clinical drug trial and was involved in the operational management of two large TB contact tracing projects. Research interests have included work in HIV treatment, TB screening and diagnosis and Hepatitis B.
