Monitoring Workshop

11

Johannesburg, South Africa

29 July – 1 August 2019

The monitoring workshop was hosted by the WITS Clinical HIV Research Unit (CHRU) and Aurum in Johannesburg. The aim of this workshop was to provide the monitors with an opportunity for “cross-pollination” of knowledge and supplement ongoing mentorship for themselves.

During the workshop, the monitors shared with each other how they go about carrying monitoring activities at their respective sites. They also shared on their challenges and successes.

As the host, the WITS CHRU team went through their monitoring processes and quality assurance tools in detail. This was followed by a tour at the Aurum Tembisa Clinical Trials Unit where the monitors were shown more tools that can be used for quality and data management.

“The experience provided was very useful. We could review guidelines and tools that help us to improve the quality of work of entire team and the control of the data.”Francisco Cláudio Pedro

“We are grateful and thankful to the entire team of TB Sequel management for providing the capacity development and networking for the internal monitors. The workshop was excellent, interactive, educative and details information was shared.” – Momodou Jallow
