The world has taken on a new normal with the COVID-19 pandemic. We find ourselves practicing social distancing and wearing face masks when around others. Amidst COVID-19, we still have TB that we are battling around the world.
TB Sequel principal investigators and study coordination teams are closely monitoring the COVID-19 health situation at the four TB Sequel African study sites to timely react and adapt the measures recommended by local governments, healthcare authorities and local and national ethical commissions.
To adapt to the current situation, and ensure the safety of TB Sequel participants and staff, a number of additions and changes need to be made to the TB Sequel study, in order to ensure that the overall research goal can be still achieved. We are doing telephonic follow ups, there is a reduction in some current clinical procedures and additional analysis on stored samples will be performed.
