Stakeholders’ workshop on the use of digital platforms for research data management and sharing in sub-Saharan Africa

CYSTINET-Africa, TAKeOFF, and TB Sequel projects, through the support from, the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research under the CYSTINET-Africa, organized a collaborative initiative to explore the use of digital platforms for early translation of health research findings in sub-Saharan Africa.

Two-day (hybrid: online/offline) Stakeholders’ Workshop aimed to exchange experience and expertise regarding health research data management and sharing, and the use of digital platforms for early translation of health research findings in sub-Saharan Africa. The workshop was held at MUHAS CHPE building in Dar es Salaam from 22nd and 23rd November 2021 from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM EAT. Representatives from the CYSTINET-Africa, TAKeOFF, and TB Sequel projects and selected institutions presented their experiences and strategies for facilitating early translation of health research evidences to inform policy and practices.

The preliminary results of the online survey were used for the discussion. This survey aims to determine existing practices and current as well as future needs around timely research data sharing overall and with special emphasis on infectious diseases (IDs), neglected tropical diseases (NTDs), non-communicable diseases (NCDs), and One Health (OH) with a focus on sub-national and national levels across all five research networks.Findings of this study will be used to recommend potential prototypes of digital research data sharing platforms (data repositories) for facilitating early translation of research findings in the various areas including IDs, NCDs, NTDs, and OH at national and sub-national levels.

Appreciating your experience and expertise regarding health research data handling in sub-Saharan Africa and within BMBF health networks, we would like to invite you (e.g., as a researcher, student, data manager, lab manager, or ICT officer) to respond to the survey via http://tiny.cc/x3siuz.
